Activities aimed at arresting migration to cities
Almost entire population in the area mainly survives on agricultural activities, as the majority consists of marginal farmers and landless laborers. The activity is not feasible as the expenses for seeds, labor, cattle etc. far exceed the gains achieved. As such many of the villagers had no option, but to sell their hereditary piece of land and to migrate to cities for earning livelihood. This had resulted in the fragmentation of the society. TRUST decided to arrest the migration of local villagers to cities. Over the years, TRUST has undertaken extensive farming activities, essentially for creation of job opportunities.
TRUST has a large and healthy cattle force and their breed continue to increase every year. TRUST donates part of its cattle to the needy farmers in order to reduce their burden of expenses and helps them to continue the activity, mainly to arrest their migration. However the scheme is implemented with adequate care. It is ensured that the farmer, seeking cattle from the TRUST, is needy and it is also ascertained whether he will look after the cattle well. Having ensured this, the farmer has to execute an undertaking on a stamp paper that the cattle will not be sold to any slaughterer and only thereafter the cattle is handed over. Further, once in a year the cattle is required to be brought to the Trust premises for the purpose of annual inspection, to ensure that the conditions are being fulfilled by the farmer and the cattle is being taken care of. It also helps the villagers to get their cows fertilized by the superior species of oxen. Farmers desirous of purchasing the cattle from open market are also given cash assistance. Further needy farmers are assisted in procuring good quality seeds and fertilizers.
With the collaboration of experts from the Agriculture Colleges, farmers are being taught about productive methods of farming. All this is done in an integrated fashion to preserve the identity of an Indian village and with an idea to inspire others, so that the movement gathers momentum for building up a healthy and strong NATION.
